While doing research for another article, I pulled up Samsung’s web-listing for the Galaxy S21 Plus. Expecting to just see the different options available for the device, I ignored the webpage for a moment before glancing back. That’s when I was greeted with the following prompt, stating that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is shipping faster, and the “Galaxy S21 may no longer be in stock”.
This comes as a bit of a shock, but not because the phones have been available since January. Instead, this is adding credence to reports that claim Samsung has canceled the Galaxy S21 FE because the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is performing much better than the company expected.
You are provided with a few options to continue, even a “continue shopping Galaxy S21” button at the bottom of the prompt. But Samsung is continuing its push to make the Galaxy Z Flip 3 the most popular phone of the year so far. According to this offer, you can save 50% on the Galaxy Buds 2, try the device for 21 days “worry-free”, and still get up to $650 in trade-in credit when you go through Samsung’s website.
When going through and looking at the shipping dates for the different Galaxy S21 models, this is what we found:
- Galaxy S21: Phantom Gray – Oct 22. / Phantom Violet – Out of Stock
- Galaxy S21 Plus: Phantom Black, Silver, & Violet – Oct 8. / Phantom Red – Out of Stock
- Galaxy S21 Ultra: Phantom Black – Oct 29. / Phantom Silver – Oct 8.
It’s clear that Samsung is going through some turbulence across the entire lineup, but the odd thing about this prompt is that it did not appear when navigating to the Galaxy S21 or S21 Ultra landing page. Instead, it only popped up when trying to view the Galaxy S21 Plus, which has three out of the four colors shipping as soon as October 8.
Turning the page over to Amazon, it’s also happening there too. The standard Galaxy S21 is not in stock at all, while two colors for the Galaxy S21 Plus are available, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra only sees the Phantom Black available with Prime Shipping.
Maybe this is just a bump in the road, and things will be back to normal in the near future. However, it’s also possible that this is the end of the road for the S21 series, and the Z Flip 3 will be Samsung’s “big hitter” for the upcoming holiday season.
