At an event hosted in China earlier today, Realme announced its latest smartphone in the GT Neo2. Realme has been on a hot streak as it continues to offer some pretty incredible and value-friendly devices. The Neo2 continues that trend, bringing with it a solid spec sheet without breaking the bank.

The Snapdragon 870 has become the de-facto chipset for phone makers that want to provide an experience close to a flagship device, without the added cost. That’s what Realme has done here with the GT Neo2, along with pairing the device with 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM. There are also two different storage options, as Realme is offering 128GB or 256GB.
And if you think that you might need a bit more RAM, you’re in luck. The GT Neo2 ships with Realme UI 2.0, which includes the company’s “GT Mode 2.0”. This mode boosts the performance, while also allowing for users to do a little bit of RAM swap to get up to an additional 7GB of RAM. We’ve been seeing this more and more from other phone makers, so it only makes sense for Realme to jump in on it as well.
Looking at the display, Realme doesn’t disappoint with its 6.62-inch AMOLED panel, equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate. There’s also a 600Hz touch sampling rate, to go along with a maximum brightness of 1,300 nits. And as for the refresh rate, Realme is making it possible for you to manually switch between four different rates from the settings app.
Realme didn’t provide too much insight into the camera hardware here. The company didn’t even share what kind of selfie camera is being used in the hole-punch cutout on the front. However, we do know that the GT Neo2 sports a 64MP wide-angle camera, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro lens.
In addition to offering a fantastic value for what you get, the Realme GT Neo2 also includes the company’s “largest cooling area” ever found in a Realme phone. During the announcement, Realme stated that this area measures in at 4129mm2 and was created using an 8-layer heat dissipation structure, along with using a diamond thermal gel for cooling. All of this is to say that you likely won’t experience a performance drop while playing even the most demanding games.
Rounding out today’s announcement is the battery life. The GT Neo2 marks the first time that we’ve seen a Realme device launched with a 5,000mAh battery. But instead of just sticking with boring 25W or slower charging, the GT Neo2 supports Realme’s 65W SuperDart charging speeds. This will get your phone from 0-100% in less than 40 minutes.
The Realme GT Neo2 comes in three different colors, and is priced starting at $370 for the base model and jumps up to $465 for the 12GB/256GB version. The device is slated to go on sale starting Monday, September 27th, but it will initially only be available in China. Thankfully, Realme did confirm that it will be launching globally “soon”, so we’ll be on the lookout for that.
