Start the countdown: The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro pass through the FCC

It’s been over a month since Google gave us the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro teaser. We’ve seen billboards start going up, along with plenty of TV commercials ahead of the official release. But the problem is that Google still has not revealed when the phones will actually be available.

Although we still don’t have a date, you can start getting even more excited. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have both passed through the FCC, providing a bit of information as to what we can expect to see. First, the devices carry the following model numbers:

From the filing, you can see the different cellular bands that are supported by both devices. This includes the major LTE and 5G bands, including mmWave, meaning that these devices should work with all of the carriers here in the States. Additionally, the G8V0U, GF5KQ, and GLU0G models include Ultra Wideband support. However, the remaining models do not, so it would appear as though the standard Pixel 6 will not include UWB support.

It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, as the standard Pixel 6 already includes one-less camera sensor compared to the Pro. Finally, these filings confirm that Google will be including support for NFC, wireless charging, and WiFi 6E. So by all accounts, these really will be the ultimate Google devices, and the best smartphones Google has ever released.

Now we just have to play the waiting game. As the commercials and advertisements continue to grow in number, it should just mean we’re weeks away from a potential launch. But we won’t know for sure until Google actually gives us the confirmation of an event or announcement.
