2021 has been a banner year for Xiaomi across the board, as the company has overtaken the likes of Samsung and Apple when it comes to smartphone market share. Last month, we learned that the company was going to change things up a bit, dropping the popular “Mi” branding and instead opting for just Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO. Today, the Xiaomi 11T and Xiaomi 11T Pro were introduced to the world as the first budget-friendly devices to be released without the Mi branding.
Starting off with the Xiaomi 11T, we have a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 480Hz touch sampling rate. Powering the 11T is the MediaTek 1200-Ultra, which is built on the 6nm process, and provides support for dual 5G SIM cards. Paired with MediaTek’s chipset, the 11T includes 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of onboard storage.
Moving to the cameras, we have a lot going on here. The triple camera array is headlined by a 108MP wide-angle lens using a 2.1um sensor that provides 9-in-1 pixel binning to create a “Super Pixel”. Flanking the main camera is an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree Field of View, along with a 5MP telemacro sensor.
As for battery life, Xiaomi packed a 5,000mAh cell into the 11T, but also made sure you wouldn’t be waiting forever it to charge. This is thanks to the 67W wired “turbo charging” which Xiaomi claims will get you to 100% in just under 40 minutes.
The Xiaomi 11T Pro also uses a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel, but the refresh rate has been bumped up to 120Hz with a 480Hz touch sampling rate. According to Xiaomi, this DotDisplay panel has earned an A+ rating from DisplayMate, and makes use of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus for protection.
Under the hood, we have the Snapdragon 888 powering the 11T Pro along with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM along with 128GB or 256GB of storage. This is the same flagship chipset that we’ve been seeing all year long after the Xiaomi Mi 11 was the first device released with it late in 2020.
In terms of the camera system, we have the same triple camera array complete with the 108MP main camera, ultra-wide lens, and telemacro sensor. But with the 11T Pro, Xiaomi has included a few extra software tweaks, such as the AI Night Mode, Dual Native ISO, and Selfie Night Mode.
All of this sounds pretty great as it is, but it’s really nothing that you wouldn’t expect from such a device. What sets the Xiaomi 11T Pro apart is the fact that it supports Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge technology to go along with the 5,000mAh battery. According to Xiaomi, this will provide a charge of a little over 70% from 0% in just 10 minutes.
The company has also gone the extra length to ensure that the 11T Pro won’t overheat. The 11T Pro features a total of THIRTY-FOUR different battery charging safety features, along with maintaining 80% battery health after 800 cycles. Xiaomi even went so far as to test the charging speeds and reliability in extreme conditions, finding that the phone will still charge properly in temperatures as low as -10°C.
Other features for the Xiaomi 11T Pro include 4K HDR10+ video recording, along with the ability to recognize over 1 billion colors. We have dual SIM compatibility, including 5G connectivity, and a dual speaker system using SOUND by Harman Kardon and Dolby Atmos support.
As if we didn’t have enough options in the Xiaomi 11 family, there’s another option hitting select markets soon. The Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE keeps the same design aesthetic as the Mi 11 Lite that was released earlier in the year with its flat and ultra-thin design.
This new version of the 11 Lite features a 6.55-inch AMOLED DotDisplay capable of supporting both TrueColor and Dolby Vision. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 778G chipset along with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage.
In terms of the camera system, we have a triple camera array headlined by a 64MP wide angle lens. Accompanying the main camera is an 8MP ultra-wide sensor along with a 5MP tele macro lens. As we’re used to by this point, we also have access to a slew of AI-enhanced features such as cinematic video filters and an all-new Vlog mode.
Battery life should be pretty solid as well, thanks to the 4,250mAh cell. Although the 11 Lite 5G NE doesn’t take advantage of Xiaomi’s HyperCharge technology, it does provide 33W fast charging speeds that will get your phone juiced up in no time.
As for pricing and availability, we don’t have an official release date for any three of these phones just yet. However, Xiaomi did share that pricing for the 11T will start at EUR 499 for the base model, and go up to EUR 549 for the 8GB/256GB variant. The 11T Pro comes in at EUR 649 for the 8GB/128GB version and goes up to EUR 749 for the 12GB/256GB model. Rounding out the pack, the 11 Lite 5G Ne starts at EUR 369 for the entry-level model.
