Microsoft Surface Duo 2 surfaces on Geekbench revealing flagship specs

If you’re not into the single-screen folding phone, but like the idea of having two separate displays on a single device, you’re likely going to want to wait a bit longer. The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has appeared on Geekbench, with the results revealing some of the key specs. According to the results, the Duo 2 will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 along with featuring 8GB of RAM.

The device that was tested was running Android 11, which comes as a bit of a surprise given that the original Surface Duo is still powered by Android 10. We were hoping that the Duo 2 would launch with Android 12, but if we’re actually nearing a launch, it would make sense to feature Android 11.

Not much else about the Duo 2 was revealed in these Geekbench results. However, looking at the 1091 single-core score and 3517 multi-core score shows that performance is likely to be in line with the likes of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, OnePlus 9 Pro, and other Snapdragon 888-powered handsets.

Previous leaks and rumors for the upcoming Microsoft device point to a triple-camera array on the back, making use of a wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto camera. If this comes to fruition, it will bring with it a bit of a change in the design as the redesigned camera module will add quite a big bump to the back of the phone.

Additionally, we’re expecting to see both 5G connectivity and NFC support arrive. These changes show that Microsoft is ready to deliver a true flagship after the original Surface Duo was met with a bit of disappointment as the device shipped with outdated specs.

Unfortunately, there’s no mention as to when the Surface Duo 2 could be released. However, other rumors suggest that Microsoft could show it off in September before releasing it sometime in October.
