Have you ever found yourself wanting to quickly toggle the different settings on your Pixel Buds? For those who aren’t using a Pixel phone, this isn’t a big deal as you can just add the app icon to your Home Screen. However, Pixel phone owners have to jump into the Settings menu, which can be a bit of a pain especially when you just want to change something on the fly.
With the latest update of the Pixel Buds app, Google is attempting to make your life just a little bit easier. The latest update (via 9to5Google), coming via version 1.0.3909, provides a widget that you can throw onto your Home Screen. Essentially this is just the same as the companion app that you would use on other Android devices.
When tapping the widget, you are taken directly to the settings for your Pixel Buds. From here, you can do everything from toggling Adpative Sound to double-checking for a firmware update, or even just renaming your Pixel Buds. Speaking of naming your Buds, the widget itself uses whatever name you provided originally to the headphones.
All you need to do, after the update has arrived, is to tap and hold on an empty space on your Home Screen. Then, search for Pixel Buds in the widget picker. Hold and drag the widget to your Home Screen and place it wherever you want. Now you’ll be able to access your Pixel Buds settings from your Home Screen instead of needing to dive into the Settings menu.
Apparently, the update is beginning to roll out now, but it has yet to arrive on my Pixel 5. We’ll be keeping an on when it will actually arrive, but hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.
