Google’s Pixel 6 rumored to charge faster than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, while the Pixel Fold is delayed

If you were disappointed to see the Pixel 5a released with just 18W charging speeds, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro might be more up your alley. According to a new rumor from 91mobiles, Google will be upping the ante a bit with its 2021 flagship lineup. The rumor claims that we’ll be seeing 33W fast wired charging Google’s upcoming devices.

This still pales in comparison to the likes of the OnePlus 9 series and Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, but it’s a step above what Samsung offers in the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3. The only “catch” with this faster 33W charging is that Google is unlikely to include a charging brick in the box. In fact, Google doesn’t even currently offer anything above 18W in terms of charging power.

We could potentially see a new charger offered on Google’s virtual storefront, but it’s more likely that you’ll have to opt for something from Anker or even Samsung if you want to take full advantage. Thankfully, there are plenty of options out there that can easily meet the 33W charging speeds, such as Anker’s ultra-compact Nano II GaN charger.

Not much else was shared regarding Google’s plans for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. However, 91mobiles also provided another useful tidbit for those anticipating the Pixel Fold. According to sources, Google will be delaying the Pixel Fold but claimed the foldable Pixel could be teased alongside the Pixel 6 announcement. Unfortunately, there’s no reason provided as to why the Pixel Fold has been delayed, so we’ll have to surmise that it might have something to do with the production of the Tensor chip.
