Motorola announces Edge 20 trio of phones, but it’s unclear if these will come to the US

If you’ve been wondering when the next Motorola phone is coming, you don’t have to wonder any longer. The company has announced a trio of phones under the Motorola Edge 20 moniker, but it seems only one of these will make it to the U.S.

The lineup consists of three different devices with the Moto Edge 20 Lite, Moto Edge 20, and Moto Edge 20 Pro. Essentially, the design is the same across the board, providing the uniformity that one would expect from phones launched under the same branding.

Moto Edge 20 Lite

Kicking things off, the Moto Edge 20 Lite features a 6.7-inch OLED display coupled with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10 support. Powering the Lite is the MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC along with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

On the back, there’s a triple camera array with a 108MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens with a dedicated macro mode, and a 2MP depth sensor. Plus, the Edge 20 Lite offers a 5,000mAh battery, the largest of the bunch, while supporting up to 30W fast wired charging.

Pricing for the Moto Edge 20 Lite starts at £299.99 and is available in either Electric Graphite or Lagoon Green.

Moto Edge 20

Next up is the Moto Edge 20, keeping the same 6.7-inch display size but instead opting for a POLED display panel. Additionally, the display maxes out with a 144Hz refresh rate, while supporting HDR10+ and being capable of automatically adjusting the refresh rate based on what’s on the screen.

Powering the Edge 20 is the Snapdragon 778G, while coming in either 6GB or 8GB configurations with 128GB of storage. The battery is a lot smaller than the Lite, featuring just a 4,000mAh cell but also supporting 30W fast wired charging.

As for the cameras, the Edge 20 features a primary 108MP rear camera, along with an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 16MP ultrawide sensor. All the while, this is the thinnest phone in the bunch, which shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given that it also has the smallest battery.

The Moto Edge 20 comes in Frosted Emerald, Frosted Grey, and Frosted White, and pricing begins at £429.99.

Moto Edge 20 Pro

Finally, we have the “flagship” of the group with the Moto Edge 20 Pro. This uses the same display as the standard Edge 20, measuring in at 6.7-inches, using a POLED panel, and including a 144Hz refresh rate with HDR10+ support.

Motorola stepped up the processor a bit with the Edge 20 Pro, making use of the Snapdragon 870 Soc paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The 4,500mAh battery sits right between the 20 Lite and standard Edge 20, while also including 30W wired charging speeds.

Out of the bunch, the Edge 20 Pro has the “best” camera array compared to the rest. Along with the 108MP main camera, there’s an 8MP periscope camera capable of providing 5x optical zoom and the same 16MP ultrawide lens as the Edge 20.

If you want the Edge 20 Pro, it’ll set you back £649.99, and is available in Midnight Blue and Iridescent White.

Availability

Motorola has confirmed that all three phones will be arriving in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, while confirming the Edge 20 Lite and Pro will be coming to the Middle East. Although the company didn’t state whether any of these would be coming to the U.S., Motorola did suggest that one of the trio of phones is on the way.
