Android 12 Beta 3.1 rolling out now with hopes to get rid of any lingering bugs

As has been the case with every Android 12 beta, Google has just released a minor update for Beta 3. The update brings Android 12 Beta 3.1, and provides a few fixes for rather pesky bugs that have been plaguing some users.

For one reason or another, each Android 12 Beta release has had some type of boot looping issue for Pixel owners. Luckily, we haven’t run into any of those problems ourselves, but Beta 3 has been the buggiest release of the bunch. Here’s the full changelog for you to check out:

Android 12 Beta 3.1 (July 2021)

If you’re already running a Developer Preview or Beta build, you will automatically receive an over-the-air (OTA) update to Beta 3.1.

This minor update to Android 12 Beta 3 includes stability improvements as well as the following fixes:

  • Fixed an issue that caused some devices to get stuck in a boot loop after restarting the device. (Issue #193789343)
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the System UI to crash.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the Android low memory killer daemon (lmkd) to excessively kill processes.

Note: The known issues listed for the Beta 3 release still apply to Beta 3.1. Additional fixes are being rolled out through the Play Store to address stability issues observed on Android 12 Beta builds.

As expected, Beta 3.1 is rolling via an OTA update, so you should begin seeing notifications appear within the next few hours. And of course, you can always manually check for an update, or download the Factory Image for your device if you simply can’t wait.

Android 12 is going to be one of the biggest updates in years, but we’re hoping that these minor releases won’t continue to be necessary moving forward. It’s possible that when Beta 4 arrives, this will be the most stable of the bunch. But we’ll just have to wait and see what’s to come. If we find any new changes or features, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.
