Smartwatches come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but for the most part, they tend to be rather similar in function and features as each other. For starters, it would be its touchscreen display which is almost a given, then there is also a heart rate sensor, and then your usual host of other sensors like an accelerometer, GPS, Bluetooth, and so on.
Looking to defy the more conventional smartwatch design is Kospet that has recently announced their latest smartwatch in the form of the Optimus 2. This is a smartwatch that packs some pretty interesting features and is accompanied by some rather surprisingly useful accessories that could make this watch worth your consideration.
It uses the Sony IMX214 sensor which will allow the camera to record 1080p footage at 30 fps which is pretty decent if you want to grab some POV footage.
In terms of hardware, Kospet has made some interesting choices on that front. The Optimus 2 will be powered by a dual-chip design, where it will use the Helio P22 as the main chipset for things like AI, and it will also be accompanied by the PAR2822 auxiliary Bluetooth chip that is used for Bluetooth and sports data collection.
Due to the use of dual chips, Kospet claims that this will help create a watch that offers a more stable connection that also consumes less power.
In addition to the dual-chip design, there is also a dual-mode feature.
One of those modes is Android mode which is a “high-performance” mode that essentially turns the watch into a smartphone that you can use for video chatting, games, music, social networking, and more. There is also a Lite mode that allows the watch to be used to answer phone calls, send text messages, and you don’t even need to have your phone with you, but you will probably need a separate data plan for the watch.
Other hardware features include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of EMMC 5.1 storage so you should be able to store a decent amount of files on the watch if you need.
In addition to that, the company also created a charging base for the watch that packs a 1,000mAh battery inside of it. This means that in addition to helping charge the watch, it doubles as a power bank that you can use to charge the watch even when you don’t have a power source, which we have to say is pretty rad.
There is also built-in GPS and GLONASS so if you want to use the watch for hiking or jogging and track your routes, no problem. The support for 4G and SIM card also means that even if your phone is dead or not with you, you can still use it to go online or make a call.
All these features make it sound like the Kospet Optimus 2 will be a very expensive smartwatch, but that’s not the case. As part of the world premiere which will run from the 28th of June to the 28th of July, the Optimus 2 will be priced at $176.99 which you can get from its website, and don’t forget to use the 333OPTIMUS2 coupon code at checkout.
The watch will be shipped from its US warehouse so you don’t have to worry about import taxes and all that, and if you’re one of the first 50 customers, you will get a free strap. Also, if you purchase during the world premiere period, you will be eligible to purchase additional straps or the charging base at 50% off.
