If Samsung wanted to turn off the leaky faucet, it couldn’t. Earlier today, we saw @evleaks reveal all of the devices that are slated to launch sometime in August, and now the FCC is the culprit.
The Samsung S Pen Pro has passed through the FCC (via SamMobile) and has been confirmed to be compatible with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3. The S Pen Pro was originally announced alongside the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but for one reason or another, Samsung was not able to release the accessory.
In the FCC filing, the following devices are listed as being compatible:
- Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G
- S21 Ultra 5G
- Note 20 Ultra
- Note 20
- Note 10 Lite
- Tab S7+
- Tab S7
- Tab S7 FE
- Tab S6
That’s a pretty impressive list, and one that provides even more confirmation of suspicions regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Previous rumors and reports claimed that Samsung has improved the glass on its upcoming foldable flagship to warrant bringing S Pen support. What we didn’t know was whether Samsung would be releasing a new S Pen to accompany the Z Fold 3 or if we would be left with the standard S Pen from January. Now that question has been answered, it’s only a matter of time for Samsung to just take the wraps off of its next handset.
What separates the S Pen Pro from the “normal” S Pen is the inclusion of Bluetooth LE. This means you’ll be able to use it with Samsung’s Air Actions that have become popularized over recent years with the Galaxy Note lineup. The S Pen Pro also will include a built-in battery, so it will be interesting to see how Samsung wants users to keep this recharged given that the Z Fold 3 likely won’t sport a built-in slot for when the S Pen’s not being used.
At this point, there’s really not much that we don’t know about the Z Fold 3. The next Samsung Unpacked is rumored to take place in August and could be one of Samsung’s largest events ever.
