If these are the real Pixel 6 Pro specs, Google may have a show-stopper on its hands

It was only a matter of time before we learned more about the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. A lot of attention has been paid to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3, but Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech is back again with a bit of a distraction. Some of the leaks and rumors we’ve seen have painted a pretty good picture of what to expect from Google’s upcoming flagship lineup. Today, Prosser has filled in a few of the blanks.

Here’s what Prosser says we can expect to see for both of these devices:

Pixel 6 (codename: Oriel)

Pixel 6 Pro (codename: Raven)

But the fun doesn’t stop there. In addition to these amazing specs, both devices will be equipped with Google’s Whitechapel CPU that has been developed in partnership with Samsung. Plus, Prosser states that Google will announce a five-year commitment in regards to software support.

To be fair, we were expecting Google to come out swinging, especially after Samsung upped the ante with three major Android updates for flagships and five years of security updates for enterprise models. OnePlus has even moved into a partnership with sister-company Oppo to improve upon its software update track. Meanwhile, Google has just been laying in wake, waiting until the Pixel 6 lineup is ready to be unveiled before dropping its bombshell announcement of five years for support.

What we still don’t know is when these devices will make their debut. Considering that the Pixel 5a could appear at any moment, it would make sense for these to be revealed around the same time as the final release of Android 12. But who knows what Google’s going to end up doing.

One thing is for certain, if there’s any phone that can pull me away from picking up the Galaxy Z Flip 3, it’s going to be the Pixel 6 Pro. Let’s just hope that Google delivers and blows everyone away.
