For the time being, if you want the best camera phone, then the Galaxy S21 Ultra is the way to go. While OnePlus was able to get close with the OnePlus 9 Pro, there are just enough differences to sway potential buyers towards Samsung’s camera. And we’re still awaiting the arrival of the Pixel 6, which Google is rumored to finally implement upgraded camera hardware.
Meanwhile, the rumors for the Galaxy S22 Ultra have already started, and this time, we’re learning more about the main camera. Previous reports suggested that Samsung would be moving to a 200MP sensor for the main lens on the S22 Ultra. However, a new rumor claims that the company is actually going to use a 108MP sensor instead.
This 108MP lens is said to be a more “polished” version of the ISOCELL HM3 sensor. For reference, the ISOCELL HM3 is the primary camera found in the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but we aren’t exactly sure what improvements the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s camera will offer.
It will be interesting to see what’s to come from Samsung and how it responds to Google. We’re expecting the Pixel 6 (and Pixel 6 Pro) to put Google back on top of the camera mountain between upgraded hardware and the best software processing in the game.
