The Galaxy Z Flip 3 could be cheaper than we were expecting

0

Samsung could announce its next Unpacked event at any moment, and we’re expecting to see at least two new phones. One of which is the Galaxy Z Flip 3, which could end up being the show-stealer of the event.

But one big question remains as both the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 have been leaked in every which way. And that’s the price. Rumors and speculation suggest that Samsung will be changing things up a bit with its next iteration on foldable, offering prices that are more affordable for everyone and at least matching up with the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Yesterday, leaker FrontTron suggested that the starting price for the Z Flip 3 would start at $1,249. This would include 8GB of RAM and 256GB of base storage. But it would also mark a steep discount compared to the $1,450 price tag offered by its predecessor.

If this comes to fruition, it would line up with previous rumors and reports claiming that Samsung would be bringing its next foldable devices down in price. Part of the reason for this is simply because the cost of parts has decreased (i.e. the Snapdragon 888), but also because Samsung wants to try and push the Galaxy Z series into the mainstream completely. And the only real way to do that is to drop the price and make it more enticing for those Galaxy Note fans to jump to a new device.

We have no doubt that there will be a configuration or two with more RAM and/or more storage for the Z Flip 3. Other leaks and rumors point to a redesign with a larger and more useful cover display, along with 9W reverse wireless charging, and potentially the return of MST support for mobile payments.

There’s a good chance that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 could end being the best foldable of the year, despite the Z Fold 3 finally gaining S Pen support. But we’ll just have to wait and see what’s to come when Samsung’s Unpacked event kicks off.
