We’re learning that there’s a reason why Google TV and Android TV are still separate interfaces. The former wants to provide curated content, while the latter kind of just wants to show you all of your installed apps. Today, Google announced a new push to help you find something to watch with its “Watch with Me” section.
In the coming days, a new row will appear for owners of the Chromecast with Google TV and Sony Bravia televisions. In this row, you’ll see some highlighted TV shows and movies that were curated by actress Laverne Cox. But instead of just throwing up the content, there will also be some explanation attached to the description, showing why Cox is a fan of the content.
When the row arrives on your device, here are the movies and TV shows that will be listed, just to give you a head start:
- The Color Purple
- Moonlight
- Pretty in Pink
- Dangerous Liaisons
- Flashdance
- The Marvelous Ms. Maisel
- The Matrix
- Breaking Bad
Google also has big plans for this section on Google TV, as the company will be highlighting favorite shows and movies from other celebrities. If you struggle to find something new to watch, this Watch with Me section could help you get out of that funk and find something enjoyable.
