OnePlus-Nord-N200-review-back

You can now buy the OnePlus Nord N200 5G for $240

Ten days ago, OnePlus unveiled its latest offering to be sport the “Nord” moniker. The OnePlus Nord N200 5G provides 5G connectivity, a decent set of specs, and OnePlus’ OxygenOS for less than $250. And if you’ve been looking for a cheap Android phone, you can buy it today.

In our review, we gave the Nord N200 some props for sporting a 1080p resolution display, which is an upgrade over the 720p display found in last year’s N100. The phone will also provide great battery life and a clean software experience. Two things that we really expect to see when it comes to the Nord lineup.

However, not everything is perfect, as the Nord N200 garnered a 3.5/5 rating. Performance was less than impressive, partly due to the seemingly underpowered Snapdragon 480 chipset. And while it may seem “neat” that a sub-$250 has a triple camera setup, you really won’t get a lot of great pictures unless you’re in the perfect conditions.

Finally, we have a gripe with the fact that the Nord N200 will only receive one major software release. Given that the Nord N200 is shipping with Android 11, you’ll only be getting an update to Android 12. From there, OnePlus has promised two years of “maintenance updates”. That’s not your monthly security patch, but it more than likely means you might get an update every three or six months.

Nevertheless, if you want a cheap Android phone, don’t care about camera performance or software updates, the Nord N200 is available now.
