TCL could introduce a budget 5G phone at MWC 2021

0

Yesterday, we saw TCL announce a slew of new devices, including a couple of Alcatel-branded Android Go phones. But with MWC 2021 kicking off next week, TCL has started hinting at another smartphone that could make an appearance.

In a teaser video about introducing 5G (via GSMArena), an unannounced smartphone is shown off at different points. The company doesn’t just come out and say that this is a device being announced, but there is a strong implication suggesting it will be coming in September.

Not much about the phone was shown off in the teaser video, but it was revealed that this rumored phone will feature a triple camera setup on the back. There’s a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. Outside of that, it’s unknown what the phone will even be called. If the video is anything to go by, it’s possible this will be the TCL 20 5GT, and will compete with the OnePlus Nord N200 for the cheapest 5G smartphone.

We’ll have to wait and see what this teased phone ends up looking like, but we’re all for the competition and TCL has a decent track history as of late.
