You may be surprised to learn that while the adults are impatiently awaiting the arrival of the new Wear OS, we’re starting to see more kid-friendly smartwatches. Along with the Alcatel announcements, TCL is announcing a brand-new smartwatch called the MOVETIME Family Watch 2.
As you’d expect, this is a smartwatch aimed at keeping your kids connected, without breaking the bank. The Watch 2 features a 1.5-inch display with a strap width of 20mm and weighing around 55 grams. Ruggedness is the name of the game here with the combination of 2D glass and plastic for the watch.
Other features include an 850mAh battery that is rated to last up to two days with 4G enabled, or seven days on standby. That’s right, the MOVETIME Family Watch 2 supports select 4G networks, and is compatible with VOLTE.
There’s even a 2MP camera above the watch face itself, allowing you to make video calls with your little ones whenever you need to. Instead of relying on proprietary chargers that can be a pain to replace, the Family Watch 2 can easily be recharged with a microUSB cable.
And if you’re concerned about being able to keep tabs on your little one, don’t fret. The MOVETIME Family Watch 2 supports real-time location tracking and location history. Parents can also set up geo-fencing to be notified whenever their child leaves a pre-set area.
TCL confirmed that the MOVETIME Family Watch 2 will launch in Europe in August for €149.
