Up until the Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold was introduced, we assumed that Xiaomi was done with its Mi Mix branding. The company hadn’t released a device with that branding since the Mi Mix 3 in 2018, so it was easy to assume. However, it would appear as though the Mi Mix Fold won’t be the only device coming under that branding in the near future. Rumors are starting to build towards a potential Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.
It would appear as though Xiaomi is aiming to get rid of just about all of the bezels around the edges, providing a true full-screen display on the front. With the Mi Mix, Xiaomi got close as it integrated the slider camera to help save space. But with the Mi Mix 4, it’s rumored that Xiaomi will be moving to an under-display selfie camera.
The only problem that we’ve seen with this report is that the inclusion of this UDC could limit Xiaomi to using an FHD+ display. And the reason why this is a problem is that the device is rumored to be even more expensive than the company’s current flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. We don’t have any rumored numbers to go off of yet, but considering that the Mi 11 Ultra starts around $1,300, anything more than that may be a tough pill to swallow.
Rounding out the recent rumors, it appears that this phone is coming sooner rather than later. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 chipset while sporting a 4,500mAh battery. Xiaomi is also said to be providing 120W wired fast charging, which would be the fastest speed available for a smartphone.
With Huawei dealing with HarmonyOS and the U.S. trade bans, we’re hoping to see Xiaomi continue to push the envelope when it comes to design and features. Someone needs to put a little bit of pressure on Samsung in order to continue the current state of innovation. Here’s to hoping the Mi Mix 4 does just that.
