The Motorola Defy is the perfect phone for all the butterfingers out there

While smartphone companies love to tout the use of Gorilla Glass and how strong it is, let’s face it, our phones are still very fragile devices. If you reckon you’re the type that probably shouldn’t be holding a $1,000 gadget in your accident prone hands, then maybe you could be interested in the recently announced Motorola Defy.

The Motorola Defy is a device that according to the Bulitt Group, will be capable of water immersion of up to 1.5m in depth for 35 minutes, thanks to its dual-sealed housing. It will also be sand, dust, dirt, humidity, and salt mist resistant (meaning it should be able to withstand the spray of the ocean if you were on a boat). The phone has also been tested to MIL-SPEC 810H for extreme temperatures.

It is also capable of withstanding drops from a height of 1.8m onto surfaces like steel and continue to work, thanks to its PCB which has been structurally reinforced. Heck, if you like, you could even wash it with soap and mild disinfectants.

As for the rest of the specs, we’re looking at a 6.5-inch HD+ display that can work even with wet fingers. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset and come with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, a triple camera setup on the back that consists of a 48MP main sensor, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro, and an 8MP selfie camera.

It will come with a 5,000mAh battery with support for 20W TurboPower charging, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual SIM support, and will run Android 10 out of the box. It is priced at €329 / £279 and at the moment, it will be available in Europe, UK, and select Latin America countries.
