Google Workspace Hero

Google Workspace is now available for Google’s 3 billion Gmail users

In a world where you can never have enough productivity and collaboration tools, Google is adding another option to the mix. Google Workspace was originally launched in October of last year, initially acting as a rebranded version of Google’s G Suite of products. But until now, this has only been available to those who were paying for G Suite business accounts.

Google Workspace for everyone

Today, Google is changing that by making Workspace available to anyone and everyone who has a Gmail account. Workspace combines the likes of Gmail, Chat, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and of course, Google Meet into a single experience. From trying to play out your family vacation to getting that startup business up and running, you can now work by yourself or collaborate with others easily.

While collaboration is the key with Workspace, it’s not just for those who want to work with others on a project or two. There are actually multiple versions of Workspace launching, with the traditional version aimed at those who want to add multiple users, but there’s also a new Google Workspace Individual. Google aims this at “small business owners and solo entrepreneurs”, but essentially, you can use it even if you don’t fall into either of those categories. The Individual plan will still include features such as personalized email marketing, video meetings, and more just by using your existing Gmail account.

Another benefit for at least giving Google Workspace a spin is to get access to the company’s new “smart canvas” feature that was announced at Google I/O 2021. With smart canvas, Google has essentially rolled Docs, Sheets, and Slides into one app that you can use for planning and collaboration. Simply create a task list and then @ tag someone to assign the task to that individual. This not only helps you and everyone else keep things organized, but it also will give you a better idea of what everyone is working on at any given time.

As for Workspace Individual, Google states that it is “rolling out soon” to six different markets, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and Japan. Interested parties can sign up to receive updates for the service.
