Twitter Blue arrives in Canada and Australia, coming to the US later this year

It was all but confirmed, and Twitter Blue has been officially announced. The social media giant published a blog post detailing everything Twitter Blue has to offer in the latest subscription service to hit your phone. But instead of rolling it out to the masses all at once, Twitter is “playing it safe” and bringing Twitter Blue to just Canada and Australia starting today.

Twitter Blue Features

The subscription will cost $3.49 CAD or $4.49 AUD per month while providing you with a few more features that you won’t be able to get with the free version of Twitter. Some of which are just improvements for how you interact and read tweets (especially those long threads), while you can now add some flair to how your app looks. Here is what you’ll get when you sign up for Twitter Blue:

So when is Twitter Blue coming to the U.S. or other countries? While the announcement blog post did not specifically mention or state when this would be coming to more regions, Jon Erlichman tweeted stating that it would be coming “later this year” and will be priced at $2.99 per month for the same subset of features. It’s likely that this is just a staged rollout to make sure that things go off without a hitch before adding an astronomical number of users all at the same time.

Twitter also said that this subset of features is just the beginning, and it will be “building out even more features and perks for our subscribers over time.” Whether that means that we’ll finally get the EDIT button, remains to be seen, but this seems like the perfect opportunity for Twitter to get some extra money just to edit a tweet.
