Nothing’s Ear 1 Headphones are coming sometime in June

0

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard anything out of Carl Pei’s Nothing camp. The last announcement of any type was when Nothing announced Teenage Engineering as a “Founding Partner”. But the silence has now ended, as Nothing published a new blog post revealing some new information about the company’s first product.

According to Carl Pei, the Ear 1 will be the company’s first product launch, as it will arrive sometime in June. The post shared a little bit more information as to the design choices that were made between Teenage Engineering and the rest of the Nothing team.

Part of the reasoning behind the name itself is rather simple and kind of obvious:

We don’t try to dress it up with a fancy name. Nor do we want to sit around debating said names. We let Ear 1 speak for itself.

Simple and obvious is the name of the game for as to why Nothing is getting started with headphones, versus trying to do something a bit more ambitious:

So why start with earbuds? Like you, we love music, podcasts, and audiobooks.

We like to immerse ourselves into a world of our choosing. And not have the world choose for us.

But more than that, we believe the earphones market was begging for differentiation, a space where we can elevate design and deliver value from day one.

Pei stopped short of revealing any more information about the potential design, cost, or actual launch date for the Ear 1 headphones. All we have to do now is await the announcement and see what Pei’s been cooking up in the Nothing kitchen.
