Samsung has figured out how to bring S Pen support to the Galaxy Z Fold 3

The S Pen used to be a feature exclusive to Samsung’s Galaxy Note series and some of its tablets, but with the Galaxy S21, the company has broken that exclusivity. In fact, Samsung had stated that they plan on bringing S Pen support to even more devices, and the rumors have suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could be one of them.

It seems that that might not have been possible, according to a report from ETNews who claims that Samsung has actually been working on it for a while now, and has only recently managed to figured it out. Apparently due to the foldable nature of the phone, getting the S Pen to work properly on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 presented a hurdle, although thankfully it seems that the company has managed to overcome it.

There were also issues regarding the delicate and fragile nature of the foldable display, where there were concerns that the S Pen could scratch the display, but Samsung has also apparently managed to find a way around that. The larger tablet-hybrid design would certainly make the S Pen a lot more useful on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 than a smaller smartphone, but whether it will integrate the stylus similar to the Note series or sell it as a separate accessory remains to be seen.

At the moment there’s no word on a release date, but production is rumored for July which means that we should see the phone in the second half of 2021.
