Google makes Android TV’s interface simpler to use in latest update

Android TV is Google’s answer to the smart TV platform. If you do own an Android TV device, then you might be interested in checking out the latest update that Google has made to it, where they have introduced a new and cleaner user interface. With these changes, Google is hoping that users will have an easier time trying to find shows that they want to watch.

Google is also borrowing some elements from their new Chromecast by introducing a new Discover tab that will show users recommendations for movies and shows that it thinks you might be interested in. If you’ve always thought that the new Chromecast’s Google TV interface was pretty awesome, then this update to Android TV will bring some of those elements over.

That being said, it is unclear how many Android TV devices will be eligible for the update. This is because depending on the version of Android TV that you’re running right now, you may or may not be able to get the update. For example, more modern Android TV devices are probably on Android 9 or 10, while older ones could be stuck on Android 8 or older and might not be eligible.

Google has already started the roll out in countries like the US, Australia, Canada, Germany, and France, and will expand to more countries in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for these changes.
