If you’re a proud owner of the Galaxy Tab S7 or Tab S7+ and have been wanting some new and useful features, well you’re in luck. Samsung has already started rolling out its One UI 3.1 update for the company’s two flagship tablets, bringing with it some pretty useful and handy features if you use Windows and/or a Samsung smartphone.
In addition to the various UI tweaks and changes that Samsung has made across all of its devices with One UI 3.1, the Tab S7 and S7+ are getting some additional features. The first of which makes it possible for you to begin viewing or reading an article through Samsung Internet on the Galaxy S21, and then picking up where you left off on your Tab S7. This can be done by tapping the Recents button in Samsung Internet on your tablet, then tap the Samsung Internet icon in the bottom right of the menu.
Sharing between multiple devices also is now much easier, provided that you are using the S21 and Tab S7. One UI 3.1 makes it possible to copy and paste text or images between devices, so you can take notes on one device, then continue them on another. Or maybe you just found something while browsing your tablet and want to transfer it to your phone. Now, you don’t have to worry about trying to transfer files through archaic cloud storage methods.
One of the best features when it comes to using a MacBook and an iPad is the recently-launched feature known as SideCar. This turns your iPad into a portable display that can be used to either give you some more screen real-estate, or just use the iPad as the primary display.
Thanks to One UI 3.1 on the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+, a similar option is now available for Windows users, without needing to download third-party software. Second Screen connects your Windows PC and your Tab S7 providing you with the option for either Extend Mode or Duplicated Mode.
Extend Mode simply connects to your PC and adds a second display that can acts as though you had a multi-monitor setup at your desk. You can move apps back and forth between screens, and do everything that you could if you had connected a traditional monitor to your laptop.
Duplicated Mode works a bit differently than you would expect. Instead of mirroring the display OF your Windows laptop TO the Tab S7, it actually goes the other way. This makes it so you can open apps like Samsung Notes, use the S Pen to take those notes, and have them shared directly to your PC. This also works with other apps and documents that may need to be transferred and saved. We’re holding out hope to be able to use the Tab S7 as a display that supports S Pen input for apps like Photoshop, but this is a step in the right direction.
Samsung didn’t stop there when it comes to bringing new features to the Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+. The One UI 3.1 update also brings support for automatic device switching when using the all-new Galaxy Buds Pro. Auto Switch makes it possible for you to be listening to music or a movie on your tablet and having the audio switch automatically if a phone call comes through on your Galaxy S21.
The only pre-requisites using Auto Switch is that your tablet and smartphone must be signed into the same Samsung account, and the “Automatically Switch to Other Devices” feature must be enabled on both devices. for Again, we’ve seen this from the likes of Apple, but it’s great to see it available on Samsung devices, along with the potential AirPods Pro-killer, the Galaxy Buds Pro.
