The Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro are the AirPods Pro competitor for everyone

0

If you’ve been paying attention to the news over the course of the last couple of weeks, you likely have seen a few new headphones launched. But today, Samsung is looking to outshine all of them, along with others, with the announcement of the Galaxy Buds Pro.

These truly-wireless headphones are not to be confused with the Buds Live, as they offer more of a similar design to the Buds+ than the Beans. Instead of opting for a “unique” design, Samsung stuck to one that works, as is the case with the Galaxy Buds+.

As you can expect, the Buds Pro have a slew of features with some that will work for all Android devices, while others that are specifically designed for Samsung smartphones. However, before diving too deep into that, let’s take a look at the basics specs.

  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 6.5mm tweeters
  • 11mm woofers
  • Active Noise Cancellation
    • Adjustable ANC
  • Ambient Sound Mode
  • Battery Life:
    • 5 hours of playback w/ ANC enabled
    • 8 hours w/ ANC turned off
    • Up to 20 hours with charging case
    • 2-hours to recharge
    • USB-C  / Wireless charging case
    • 3-minute charge offers 30 minutes of playback
  • IPX7 Water Resistant
  • 360-degree audio
  • Game Mode
  • SmartThings Find integration

The big key with the Buds Pro is the inclusion of traditional Active Noise Cancellation. These presumably will offer better ANC than the Buds Live thanks to the silicone tips that will provide the seal needed. As expected, there’s an Ambient Noise (or transparency) Mode available, which makes it so you can still hear your surroundings without pausing your media.

But Samsung takes this a step further with the Galaxy Buds Pro, compared to the competition. The Buds Pro will automatically switch from ANC to Ambient Mode whenever it picks up your voice. Additionally, the volume of your music or videos will also be lowered at the same time.

There’s not too much to write home about when it comes to battery life for the Buds Pro. Samsung claims that you will get up to five hours of playback with ANC turned on, along with an additional 13 hours via the charging case. If you decide to leave ANC turned off, then that will provide up to 8 hours for the earbuds and an additional 20 hours with he case. Fast charging is also onboard, as you’ll be able to get up to 30-minutes of playback with just a three minute charge.

The Galaxy Buds Pro are available today from Samsung for just $199.99, and can be found at other retailers starting tomorrow, for the same price.
