It’s clear that Motorola has exited the flagship smartphone arena, as the company has had better success with its budget and mid-range handsets. For the last few years, the Moto G lineup of devices have been some of the most popular devices, as they are consistently found amongst the top sellers on Amazon
For CES 2021, all three Moto G handsets are getting a refresh with prices starting at $169. Plus, Motorola is launching a brand-new mid-range device, which starts at just $399.
If you want a phone with a stylus included, there really aren’t many options out there. Of course, Samsung has the Note lineup, but not everyone wants to or can spend at least $1,000. That’s where a phone like the Moto G Stylus comes in, as this phone is priced at just $299 and includes a stylus.
The device itself features a 6.8-inch LCD display with an FHD+ resolution. Under the hood, the G Stylus is powered by the Snapdragon 768 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage (via microSD). There are four cameras to be found on the back, including a 48MP main lens, 8MP ultrawide sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro lens.
Battery life should be decent, as the G Stylus is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery, which can take advantage of 18W fast charging. The G Stylus is available to pre-order starting today and will be released on January 14th.
The Moto G Power is a bit of an odd moniker, considering that this is not the most powerful, nor does it have the largest battery. Nevertheless, the G Power (2021) is here with a 6.6-inch IPS LCD panel, featuring a resolution of 1600 x 720. Powering the G Power (2021) is the Snapdragon 662 SoC, along with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage.
The reason for the different RAM and storage options is because there’s a Best Buy-only variant coming to the big box store. Outside of that, there are no other differences between the Best Buy version and the one that you can get through Amazon or from Motorola directly.
Other specs for the G Power include a triple camera array on the back, highlighted by a 48MP primary sensor. This is flanked by a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens, while there’s an 8MP camera on the front. Just like the G Play (2021), the Power sports a 5,000mAh battery, but unlike its smaller brother, you’ll be able to take advantage of 15W fast charging.
Motorola is launching the 2021 Moto G Power on January 14th, but you can pre-order it today for $249.
Although the G Play has been the cheapest option in the Moto G lineup, it’s also been the most popular. Motorola has done quite a great job over the years optimizing its software to play nicely with lower-end specs without sacrificing the user experience. It seems that’s what we’re going to have again with the G Play (2021).
The device sports a 6.5-inch IPS display, with a resolution of 1600 x 720, while being powered by the Snapdragon 460 and 3GB of RAM. Although there is only 32GB of storage onboard, you can throw in a microSD card up to 512GB to get all the storage that you need.
While keeping the same design language as the other Moto G handsets, the rear camera module only includes two sensors on the G Play. There’s the primary 13MP lens, and a 2MP depth sensor for help with portrait shots. Battery life shouldn’t be much of an issue either, thanks to the massive 5,000mAh cell, although you will be limited to just 10W of charging speed.
The Moto G Play is expected to land next week, and you can pre-order it today for just $169.99.
The final device announced by Motorola during CES 2021 is a surprising one, and the only option with 5G connectivity. The Motorola One 5G Ace is a bit of a mouthful, but is the most powerful of the bunch. The Ace features a 6.7-inch LCD display with an FHD resolution. Under the hood, we have the Snapdragon 750G SoC paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.
There are just three cameras on the back, with a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro lens. The battery matches that of a few of the Moto G devices, with its 5,000mAh cell, along with 15W of fast charging.
The Motorola One 5G Ace will also launch on next week, but you can pre-order it today for $399.
