OnePlus Nord, OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7T next in line to receive OxygenOS 11

Usually newer phones tend to ship with the latest version of Android, while older devices have to wait. If you own an older OnePlus phone that did not ship with OxygenOS 11 (which is based on Android 11), then you’re in luck because OnePlus has since confirmed that the update for some of its (slightly) older devices.

This includes the OnePlus Nord, which was released in 2020, and also the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series, both of which were released in 2019. It’s odd that the company opted to release the update for the OnePlus Nord now when the OnePlus 8, which was released earlier, received the update before it, but better late than never.

OnePlus had previously promised to release the update for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series by the end of 2020, but the company revealed that they encountered data encryption issues and thus had to delay its release, but once again, that’s not a bad thing. According to OnePlus:

“We know our OnePlus 7 and 7T series users are also eager to have a taste of the latest flavor of Android. We have been working in parallel to release OxygenOS 11 to all these devices at the same time. As you may have heard, when porting Android 11 to the 7 and 7T series, we encountered a data decryption issue in these devices. We worked closely with Qualcomm and, with their support, we are already running a Closed Beta test. We expect to release the first OxygenOS 11 Open Beta for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series shortly after.”

There is no specific date on the release of the update yet, but the company is expected to release the Open Beta for the OnePlus Nord this month, and assuming there are no issues, will follow up with a stable release.
