8 reasons you should buy the Xiaomi Mi 11

When it comes to Chinese handset makers, Huawei usually gets a lot of attention, and it’s not hard to see why, especially given that the company’s phones usually pack impressive hardware and offers up a beautiful design at the same time, but this isn’t to say that other handset makers are lacking.

In fact, with Huawei still being blacklisted by the US government, perhaps it might be time to consider the company’s competitors, such as Xiaomi, who recently launched their new M11 series. Perhaps Xiaomi isn’t a brand you’re familiar with, or maybe you’re waiting to see what else the competition can offer, but either way, here are our 10 reasons as to why the Xiaomi Mi 11 should be your next smartphone.

Price

If you feel that smartphones these days are being priced way too expensive, you’re not alone. It is also why many companies are now starting to offer more budget options, but it’s hard to argue value in the face of the Xiaomi Mi 11. The phone is priced starting at $612 which is relatively affordable, especially when you consider the features and hardware packed into the phone.

First smartphone with the Snapdragon 888

While other handset makers have announced their plans to launch a phone using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset, Xiaomi is actually the first to do so. Obviously there will be more options to choose from in 2021, but being first to the market means that if you’re looking to stay ahead of the curve, the Mi 11 will have all your friends green with envy.

Massive battery

Short battery life is a problem that a lot of smartphone owners face, so obviously having a big battery means that your phone will last longer, and Xiaomi doesn’t disappoint. The Mi 11 comes with a 4,600mAh battery which should be able to last you quite while, plus it also supports fast wired and wireless charging, which brings us to our next reason.

Fast wired and wireless charging

The Xiaomi Mi 11 will come with pretty speed charging for both wired and wireless options. Wireless charging typically gets a bad rep for being slower than wired, but with the Mi 11, the phone will support 50W wireless charging, which is pretty crazy when you think about it. The phone also supports 55W wired charging, meaning that its wireless option isn’t too far behind in terms of speed.

Free 55W GaN charger

Yes, Xiaomi will not be bundling a charger with the Mi 11 series, but the company states that they will give users two options, and one of which will include a 55W GaN charger at no extra cost. The company says that they will only remove the charger for Mainland China, but for other markets, they will offer up two versions – one without the charger, and one with a charger at no additional cost.

A bright and fast display

These days a phone with a faster refresh rate is becoming a standard, so it’s good to see Xiaomi is following that trend with a 120Hz refresh rate on the Mi 11. In addition to being faster, the display on the phone is also brighter where Xiaomi claims it can hit peak brightness levels of 1,500 nits, along with 480Hz touch response.

Impressive cameras

If you take a lot of photos using your smartphone’s camera, then obviously having a good set of cameras is a priority, and the Mi 11 doesn’t disappoint. The phone will come with a triple camera setup which includes a 108MP primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP telephoto macro lens.

A built-in heart rate monitor

When we think of heart rate monitors, we usually think of wearables like fitness trackers and smartwatches, but that’s not the case with the Mi 11. Xiaomi has actually included a heart rate monitor that’s built into the phone’s fingerprint scanner. If you’re looking to keep track of your fitness levels and activity without having to buy a smartwatch or fitness tracker, then this feature might be of use to you.
