If you haven’t heard, the Android 11 update has officially been released by Google’s Android team. New software updates from Samsung, LG, Oppo, OnePlus and pretty much every last one of Google’s Android partners are in the works and will be ready in the coming weeks or months, but if you happen to own a Pixel smartphone from Google, you can download Android 11 starting today.
Follow the instructions below and you’ll have Android 11 up and running on your Pixel device before you know it.
The Android 11 update is available on all Pixel devices from Google, except for the original Pixel smartphone which was released in October of 2016.
Starting on September 8th, 2020, Google has enabled the OTA update to Android 11 for compatible devices. This means that the update can be installed on your Pixel smartphone directly from the settings menu. To initial the Android 11 installation process, go to Settings > System > Advanced > System Update and press the Check Now button. Once the phone pings Google’s servers it will show the update, along with all the improvements it includes.
Press the Download and install button and the phone will begin downloading the Android 11 update for your Pixel smartphone.
The whole process will take 10-15 minutes and will prompt you to restart the phone to complete the installation of Android 11. This process can also be used if you took part of the Android 11 Beta program offered by Google.
