Galaxy Z Fold2: Unpacked Part 2 officially scheduled for September 1

After teasing the Galaxy Z Fold2 at the Note 20 launch a few weeks back, Samsung has officially sent out invitations to the virtual unveiling of its third foldable smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold2: Unpacked Part 2 event will be streamed on Tuesday, September 1, at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET, allowing you to see the follow-up to last year’s Galaxy Fold in all its glory.

Besides the upgraded internal which should match what Samsung has delivered on the Galaxy S20 lineup this year, the Z Fold2 also features significant design changes that make it much more compelling than the company’s first-generation foldable smartphone. The most noticeable difference between the Galaxy Fold and Fold 2 is the exterior display which has been upgraded to a 6.2-inch panel which practically covers the entire front of the device. This change will make the phone a lot more usable as… a phone. Imagine that! The display has a small hole-punch cutout for its front-facing camera.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 isn’t ready for prime-time

Samsung has also redesigned the hinge to make it more durable and has also replaced the massive notch on the inside display with a subtle hole-punch cutout for the inside camera.

The main feature that’s still unknown at this point is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2’s price. Last year’s model made its debut at $1,980. Since Samsung has had a year to work our manufacturing kinks with the foldable display technology, we’re hoping the price will come down a little… but we’re not holding our breath.
