Fossil’s Gen 5 smartwatches just got a whole lot more useful with the latest update

Smartwatches are great if you love getting notifications on your wrist instead of having to constantly check your phone. They’re also handy for those who love working out and want to track their activities, and the good news is that if you own a Fossil smartwatch, the company has recently issued a new software update for Gen 5 smartwatches that will be introducing a host of new features that will make your smartwatch even better.

According to Fossil, this includes an optimized activity tracker. This will come in the form of a new Wellness app that will be able to monitor real-time metrics like the wearer’s heart rate, pace, distance traveled, steps walked, calories, and more. Fossil claims that the new Wellness app is also more battery efficient as it can shift power consumption off the main processor.

There will also be sleep tracking where Fossil’s smartwatches will get a quick charge feature that can boost a smartwatch’s battery to 80% in 50 minutes, meaning that you can wear the device pretty much all day and all night, letting you keep track of your sleep without worrying about battery life.

The cardio tracking feature will also be enhanced with a VO2 max tracker that can show users an estimation of VO2 max based on their resting heart rate and also other biometrics to show their estimated fitness levels.

The update will also bring about Custom Modes that lets users save profiles that they can switch between depending on what they want to use their watch for, along with improvements made to the Phone app that lets users quickly access features like ongoing call status, call history, and more.

This exciting new update is available on Fossil Group’s Gen 5 smartwatches, which includes those under the Michael Kors brand.
