Earlier this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy S20 series where the base model, the Galaxy S20, was priced at $999. It is by no means cheap, but it is cheaper than its Plus and Ultra siblings. If $999 is still too dear for you, then you might be interested to learn that the company could have a cheaper model in the works.
Dubbed the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, a report from Korean publication The Elec is claiming that the price of the handset will be around 900,000 won, which is roughly $750 upon conversion. This will make the phone a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the regular Galaxy S20, but will still come with flagship hardware, save for a few features that might be missing.
The folks at Pricebaba have also collaborated with @OnLeaks for alleged renders of the upcoming handset, along with some rumored specs of the phone which includes the potential use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and a simpler camera setup that includes a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom
Clearly some of these specs are a slight downgrade over the regular Galaxy S20 models, but if you’re more concerned about performance and less about the cameras, we suppose this is a decent compromise. There is no word on when the phone will be launched or if it will find its way outside of Korea, so we’ll just have to wait and find out.
