LG Velvet 5G finally gets a release date for the US
LG has decided to rain on OnePlus’s Nord parade today by announcing that the Velvet 5G, its mid-range smartphone that also runs on the Snapdragon 765G, will be making its long-awaited debut in the US market.
Availability of the LG Velvet will commence with a launch on AT&T’s network on July 22nd (that’s tomorrow), with T-Mobile picking it up later this summer. Verizon will also be getting in on the action with the launch of the LG Velvet 5G UW (5G Ultra Wideband), but that variant of the device won’t be coming until later in the year. Color options for the LG Velvet will include Aurora Gray, Aurora Silver, Aurora Red and Pink White, but not all color will be available across the three different service providers.
As for pricing, the LV Velver 5G will start at $599, significantly lower than the flagship-tier price that LG gave the phone for its Korean launch.
If you’re not familiar with the LG Velvet 5G’s specs already, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset, with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a microSD card slot (up to 2TB) and a 4300 mAh battery. It also sports a triple rear camera with a 48MP main camera (F1.8 / 0.8μm / 79˚),
8MP Ultra-Wide camera (F2.2 / 1.12μm / 120˚), 5MP Depth sensor (F2.4 / 1. 12μm / 81˚), 16MP front-facing camera, stereo speakers, an official IP68 rating, 3.5mm headphone jack and LG’s incredible quad-DAC which delivers impeccable audio quality.
