The Pixel Buds 2020 have finally arrived! Originally unveiled alongside the Pixel 4 back in 2019, Google’s updated earbuds are finally available for purchase. Like the original Pixel Buds, the 2020 version comes with Google Assistant integration for volume, track control and any other Google Assistant queries you might have and you also get real-time translation in over 40 languages, something that could be extremely helpful once we ‘re all able to start traveling again. Google has also built in an Adaptive Sound feature which automatically adjusts the volume of the Pixel Buds based on your surrounding environment.
To make the experience of using the Pixel Buds as seamless as possible, pairing the buds in as easy as it is with AirPods. Just open the case and you’ll see a pop-up notification on your phone to pair the two. The Pixel Buds can be paired to multiple devices, but they are only able to support one connection at a time. Google has also given the buds an IPX4 splash-resistant rating which means you shouldn’t have any issues using them for working out, but they should be fully submerged in water.
One their own, the Pixel Buds offer 5 hours of battery life with a total of 24 hours when charging them with the included case. If you happen to be running low on power, a 10-minute charge in the case will give you 2 hours of listening time.
You can purchase the Pixel Buds directly from the Google Store for $179. Google will also be selling them through Best Buy, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Verizon, Target and Walmart. The only color option currently available is Clearly White, but Google plans to deliver the Almost Black, Quite Mint and Oh So Orange color options “in the coming months.”
