Some Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra units are experiencing overheating

0

The Samsung Galaxy S20 series are offered in either a Qualcomm Snapdragon or Exynos variant depending on where the phone is being sold in. Unfortunately for those with the Exynos variant, it seems there are some users of the Galaxy S20 Ultra that are experiencing overheating with their devices.

This is according to a smattering of user complaints posted to the Samsung forums as well as Twitter, where not only is the phone experiencing overheating issues, but there are also problems with the camera where it struggles to autofocus on the subject. Note that this seems to only apply to the Exynos models as pretty much all the complaints are from those who have the Exynos version of the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

For those unfamiliar, the Exynos chipsets are made by Samsung themselves, but in recent years, it seems that the performance between the Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets are getting bigger, where the latter appears to be falling behind. This has recently forced Samsung to issue a statement in which the company insists that there is no performance difference between the Snapdragon and Exynos chipsets.

Benchmarks, on the other hand, beg to differ as it clearly shows that the Snapdragon versions do perform better compared to its Exynos counterpart. Given that customers pay the same price regardless of chipset, it’s understandable that some are feeling a little cheated.

There was even a petition that was launched to get Samsung to stop using its Exynos chipsets in future handsets.
