A new OnePlus 8 series leak has just hit the web, finally giving us a full picture of what to expect from the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro and new details regarding the cameras on the two devices.
According to WinFuture, the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be a bit more different than previously expected.
The new leak claims that the regular OnePlus 8 will be sport a 90Hz refresh rate for its 6.55-inch FHD+ OLED display, LPDDR4X RAM (8GB and 12GB models are likely), 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage options and a 4300 mAh battery which can hit the 50% charge mark in just 22 minutes.
On the camera front, the OnePlus 8 is said to be using Sony’s 48MP IMX586 sensor for its main camera along with a 16MP sensor for its ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The phone will also have a 16MP front-facing camera, a redesigned camera app with improvements to manual controls, 4K/60fps and a new “cinema format” for video recording from the main cameras.
Switching over to the OnePlus 8 Pro, the leak confirms that the phone’s display will feature a 6.78-inch OLED panel capable of achieving a 120Hz refresh rate at its full resolution. The phone will also include a dedicated MEMC chip to speed up the frame-rate of content for smoother video playback.
WinFuture also mentions that the OnePlus 8 Pro will finally be getting an official IP68 dust and water-resistant rating, something that OnePlus fans have been asking for for years. On top of that, the phone will also come with wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, two features that will not be making their way to the standard OnePlus 8.
For its cameras, the OnePlus 8 Pro is said to feature Sony’s 48MP IMX689 sensor for its main camera and a 48MP IMX586 sensor for the ultra-wide camera, an 8MP 3x hybrid zoom camera and finally a 5MP color filter camera on the back. The selfie camera will sport the same 16MP sensor that OnePlus will be using on the OnePlus 8.
All of the camera software video recording features for the two smartphones will be the same. While the Snapdragon 865 chipset that OnePlus is using to power both phones is capable of recording 8K video, the company is instead focusing on improving video capture at 4K with better HDR and stabilization by using EIS and OIS simultaneously.
At this time, there’s still no concrete information regarding the prices of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. All we have to go on is that the two phones will sell for less than the $1,000 price point, making then cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S20. That being said, the report claims that the OnePlus 8 series will be available a week after the two phones are unveiled on April 14.
