OnePlus could revive the OnePlus X and return to its budget roots

0

OnePlus started out as a company that created affordable smartphones. Despite their affordable nature, the company introduced an even more affordable model in the form of the OnePlus X way back in 2015. It was later discontinued and over the years, we’ve seen the company raise the price of their phones.

It looks like OnePlus might be looking to return back to their wallet-friendly ways because according to a tweet by XDA Developers’ Max Weinbach, he has heard that the company could be looking to revive the OnePlus X series.

According to Weinbach’s tweet, apparently OnePlus is looking to revamp the OnePlus X handset and launch it under a new series. OnePlus had previously explained the reason behind their decision to not launch more OnePlus X handsets, claiming that they wanted to focus more on their flagship phones.

At this point in time, not much is known about this rumored relaunch and what kind of specs or features we could be looking at, but the idea of a cheaper OnePlus phone is a much-welcome one, especially in this day and age where we’re seeing more phones encroaching the $1,000 mark, with some even going beyond.

Needless to say that this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but OnePlus is rumored to be hosting an event next month where the OnePlus 8 will be launched, so maybe we might hear more about the company’s plans then.
