OnePlus CEO hints that their next phone will have a faster display refresh rate

0

While smartphone makers have been stepping up their game when it comes to improving on the refresh rate of their displays, for the most part, many of them have capped it at 90Hz, save for a few who have bumped it to 120Hz, and now it looks like OnePlus could be hopping on board that bandwagon.

This is according to a post on Weibo by OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, who confirmed that the company has been working on 120Hz display technology which they plan to show off at the OnePlus 2020 Screen Technology Communication Meeting. Unfortunately, Lau stopped short of actually saying when we might see the tech make its way into the company’s phones.

OnePlus is expected to launch the OnePlus 8 in the coming months, assuming that nothing’s changed in their schedule, so there is a good chance that we could see the phone take advantage of this 120Hz display tech. Like we said, so far most handset makers have capped their displays at 60Hz or 90Hz, so it will be nice to see OnePlus launch a phone with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Given that our smartphones are starting to peak in terms of performance, it’s these small differences that can help phones in today’s market stand out from each other. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon, so check back with us later for more updates.
