Samsung Galaxy S20 could finally be packing a 120Hz display

Back in 2017, Razer kind of surprised everyone with the launch of the Razer Phone, which was possibly the first ever smartphone with a 120Hz refresh rate display. We would have thought that many handset makers would jump on that bandwagon, but fast forward 2018, there still weren’t that many phones around with a higher-than-60Hz refresh rate.

2019 was a different story where we started to see more handset makers increase the refresh rates, but for the most part, they were capped at 90Hz, but that could change in 2020.

According to a tweet by leakster Ice Universe, he has suggested that for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S20 handset, the company will finally be introducing a display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is said to be applicable across the company’s entire lineup, which will include the Galaxy S20, the Galaxy S20+, and an alleged Galaxy S20 Ultra model.

Needless to say that this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but Samsung has confirmed that they will be hosting their Galaxy Unpacked event on the 11th of February, 2020, so we won’t have to wait too long for all the official details.
