The Honor 9X Pro is one of the best smartphones you can buy for the price. It features an incredibly powerful processor, a respectable triple camera on the back, and a pop-up selfie camera which allows the phone’s 6.6-inch display to stretch edge-to-edge.
The only real downside to the Honor 9X Pro is that is doesn’t come with the Google Play Store. Since Huawei was placed on the U.S. Entities List during the first half of 2019, the company has not been able to receive Google certification for any of its new phones. This means that the Play Store and all of Google’s other applications are not installed on the Honor 9X Pro. Huawei’s app store is present, but since it’s mainly geared towards the Chinese market, it doesn’t feature most of the applications and games that are used in the rest of the world.
Fortunately, there’s a fix. Follow the steps below will allow you to install the Google Play Store on the Honor 9X Pro in less than 10 minutes, giving you access to all of your favorite apps. We have also verified that this process will work on the Huawei Mate 30 as well.
What you’ll need
- Honor 9X Pro
- microSD card (buy one on Amazon)
Install Google Play on the Honor 9X Pro
Download and extract files
- Download the “华为谷歌安装.rar” file to the Download folder
- Download and install RAR application from APK Mirror
- Open RAR application and navigate to Download
- Tap the checkbox on the right of the 华为谷歌安装.rar file
- Tap the extract icon (up arrow next to trash icon) and tap “OK” on next screen
- Open Files application and navigate to Internal Storage > Download > 华为谷歌安装 > Huawei Mate 30 and install the app with “G” icon.
- Do not open the app after installation
Backup & Restore
- Open phone Settings > System > Backup & Restore
- Tap on External storage > Memory card > Back Up
- Tap Select all twice to select and then deselect all items
- Tap Apps and data and then scroll to the bottom
- Tap checkboxes next to application with “G” icon and press OK
- Tap OK on pop-up box
- Open Files application and navigate to Internal Storage > Download > 华为谷歌安装 > Huawei Mate 30
- Long press on file com.lzplay.helper.tar ad then tap info.xml to select both
- Press Copy at the bottom of the screen
- In Files app navigate to Memory Card > Huawei > Backup > Honor 9X > backupFiles1 > next folder
- Tap Paste > Replace to paste the files and override the ones in the folder
- Open phone Settings > System > Backup & Restore
- Tap on External storage > Memory card and select the backup file created earlier
- Tap Restore and enter password a12345678
Install Google Apps
- With Wi-Fi or Mobile Data turned on, open the “G” icon application installed previously
- Tap the large button at the bottom o the screen
- Tap the blue button the right in the pop-up
- Force close the application
- Open Files application and navigate to Internal Storage > Download > 华为谷歌安装 > EMUI 9.1.1 Google Pack
- Starting from the top, tap each .apk file and install all the applications
Congratulations! Google Play Service and the Google Play Store are now installed on your Honor 9X Pro. You’ll now see the Play Store icon on your home screen. Open the app, enter your Google login credentials and you’ll have access to all of your favorite applications.
