Google has confirmed that on the 15th of October, they will be hosting an event in which we expect that the Pixel 4 smartphones will be officially revealed. We also expect that in addition to the Pixel 4 smartphones, Google could potentially use the event to announce new Chromebooks, like the successor to the Pixelbook.
Thanks to 9to5Google, they have learnt that Google’s next Pixelbook won’t simply be called the Pixelbook 2, but rather, Google will be giving it a new name in the form of the Pixelbook Go. While it’s easy to think of the laptop as the successor to the Pixelbook, 9to5Google’s sources have told them that it will be a follow-up to the Pixelbook, but will also be a more traditional take on the Chromebook.
This means that instead of stuffing it with fancy tech and design features, it will be a more traditional clamshell laptop that will focus on portability. This means that if you were hoping for something more modern and powerful, you might need to look elsewhere. Further digging has also revealed some potential specs of the laptop, such as a 13.3-inch 4K display, and also the use of Intel’s Core m3, i5, and i7 processor options, with support for up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
It does seem odd that Google isn’t choosing to make a more powerful version of the Pixelbook, but perhaps that could come in a different model. Take it with a grain of salt, but do check back with us in the coming weeks for more details.
