Android updates are tricky things because it’s hard to tell when (or if) a manufacturer will release them. This is why it usually comes as a pleasant surprise when you get the notification that an update is waiting for you. If you’re the owner of the HTC U12+, it looks like that surprise has finally arrived.
According to reports, it appears that the Android 9.0 Pie update for the HTC U12+ has finally made its way to the US. The update was initially released in HTC’s home of Taiwan back in July, before it eventually made its way to Europe, and now it looks like after about a month or so, it has made its way stateside.
If you haven’t received the notification yet, not to worry as these updates are typically rolled out in phases, so if you don’t see it yet, give it a couple of days or a week and it should eventually find its way to you. Alternatively, you could always try to pull it manually by checking the software updates on your phone.
The update weighs in just under 1GB and it should bump your phone’s firmware to version 2.51.617.1 and Android 9.0 Pie. The update seems to be focused mostly on Android Pie so all the changes and new features mostly come from Google’s end of things.
