Vivo’s insane 120W new charging tech will charge a 4000mAh battery in 17 minutes

When it comes to fast charging, we have seen quite a few companies attempt to create their own systems. There is OnePlus with its Warp Charge system that offers up to 30W, the Oppo SuperVOOC 50W, and a few months ago, Xiaomi unveiled the Super Charge Turbo system which offered 100W of charging.

In the demonstration, the company showed how its fast charging tech could juice a phone from 0-100% (of a 4,000mAh battery) in 17 minutes. It turns out that Xiaomi could have already been beaten by Vivo where in a video uploaded to Weibo, the company’s product manager showed off Vivo’s upcoming Super FlashCharge system that is said to be capable of charging at a blazing fast 120W.

In the video, it showed how a phone could be charging up to 14% in about 16 seconds, so imagine how long it would take for it to reach 100%, which according to Vivo, would charge a 4,000mAh battery to full in 13 minutes, making it about 4 minutes faster than what Xiaomi could accomplish.

That being said, we’re not sure if the company has plans to ship its Super FlashCharge system in its commercial devices yet, or if this is simply the company showing off what they’ve managed to accomplish. We expect more details will be revealed next week at MWC Shanghai where Vivo is also expected to take the wraps off their first 5G handset.
