Google has plans to build more affordable Pixel phones in the future

0

Yesterday, Google announced their new Pixel 3a and 3a XL smartphones. While the specs of either phone don’t look particularly exciting on paper, they do have somewhat attractive prices with the Pixel 3a priced starting at $400, and to top it off, they come with some of the Pixel 3’s features.

This means that users get to enjoy some Pixel 3 features but on a budget. The good news is that if you are hoping to see more budget Pixel phones in the future, Google has confirmed to Android Police that they are planning to launch more of such devices in the future and that the Pixel 3a smartphones are not a “one-off” release.

Google did not confirm any dates or a release schedule for future budget Pixel handsets, so we’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for more information. As we had previously mentioned, there are plenty of reasons to be excited for the Pixel 3a smartphones. This is because for how they are priced, they are actually pretty decent handsets that offer a stock Android experience, guaranteed timely updates, and even some high-end camera features.

The pricing of smartphones these days are certainly getting out of hand, but as we’re starting to see, more manufacturers are creating more value-for-money handsets. This leaves the high-end flagships to those who might absolutely need to have the latest or greatest or have a lot of money to spare.

In the meantime, Google is expected to launch the Pixel 4 later in the year, and it could be a safe bet to assume that some of the Pixel 4’s features could trickle down into future budget Pixel handsets.
