While the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G uses hardware that is based on the Galaxy S10, it also has some differences in specs and features that make it quite an alluring handset, although we imagine that its ability to hook onto 5G networks is one of its main draws. Unfortunately, it seems that one of the main features that helped make it unique isn’t working as planned.
According to a report from Business Korea, some Galaxy S10 5G owners are reportedly running into issues hooking onto 5G networks in the country. The reports claim that when the phone drops the 5G signal and hooks onto LTE, data service is disconnected and that the only way for users to regain a connection to 5G is to reboot their phones.
We should point out that handsets dropping from different connections is natural, like when LTE drops to 3G, or when WiFi is dropped in favor or cellular, but usually, in such situations the switch is seamless and users don’t really experience much disruptions, but that is not the case here.
It has also been reported that some users are also experiencing slow internet speeds when connected to 5G which is a shame when during carrier testing, it was found that the device could hit theoretical speeds of up to 4Gbps.
That being said, we can’t say we’re too surprised. All new technology goes through some teething problems so this is to be expected. To Samsung’s credit, they have been busy pushing out updates for the phone so there is a chance that this issue could have since been resolved, but it’s something to take into consideration if you are planning to get the phone when it does eventually land stateside.
