T-Mobile and AT&T release Android Pie updates for Samsung Galaxy S8, Note 8

When it rains it pours! A week after the Android Pie update for the Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 on Sprint, the AT&T and T-Mobile variants of the phones are now receiving their updates as well! AT&T has started pushing out the update to all three phones, but T-Mobile is currently only offering the Pie update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.

While it’s nice to finally see these updates released, the carrier variants of Samsung’s phones are pretty late to the Pie party. The unlocked variants of these phones started receiving their updates back in February.

Since the Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 are all devices from 2017, this second (and likely final) major Android update they receive. The good news is that the new software build is quite significant, delivering Samsung’s new One UI which is a significant improvement over the previous custom skin Samsung was offering.

The Android Pie updates being pushed out by T-Mobile and AT&T weigh in at about 1.5 GB and include the latest March Security Patch. As is always the case, the service providers are gradually releasing the update to devices in batches. If you’re impatient and don’t want to wait around for the update notification on your phone, you can always try triggering it manually by going to Settings > Software Update > Download updates manually to see if you can jump to the front of the line.

Once you’ve downloaded and installed the Android Pie update on your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or Galaxy S8, leave us a comment and let us know what new Android 9 or One UI features you like the most.
