DxOMark objectively rates cameras and is most well known for testing smartphone cameras, giving them a total score based on their photo and video performance. Huawei has been topping the DxOMark charts for some time with stiff competition from Samsung and Google, and the company has done it again.
Samsung enjoyed victory when its Galaxy S10+ tied last year’s Mate 20 Pro, but the victory was short lived as Huawei’s latest flagship the P30 Pro has topped the charts with three points over the Mate 20 Pro and Galaxy S10+. The device scored an impressive 112 points, with 119 in the photo department and 97 in video.
DxOMark notes more contrasty photos than other Huawei devices, a good balance between detail and noise, and the best zoom performance of any tested device thanks to the 5x telephoto lens. On the video side, they claim that the stabilization is some of the best they’ve seen.
It is worth noting that the selfie camera only scored 89, whereas the Galaxy S10+ scored an impressive 96. Maybe the hole punch is mightier than the notch. Either way, now we know what device to buy if photos are the top priority and we can’t wait to see where smartphone photography goes next.
