Huawei’s next innovation is a pair of smart glasses

0

Many years ago, Google attempted to take on the wearable space with Google Glass. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite take, although it seems that Google Glass might have actually found a second lease on life in the enterprise sector. Now it seems that Huawei wants to pick up where Google left off with their own pair of smart glasses.

Following the announcement of the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, the Chinese company took the wraps off a pair of smart glasses. We’re not sure what these glasses will be called, but they were made in collaboration with Korean eyewear company Gentle Monster. The glasses themselves look pretty plain and simple, but that’s kind of the point.

One of the problems with Google Glass is that it was too “out there”, and the fact that it had a built-in camera raised some privacy concerns. These are things that Huawei and Gentle Monster have done away with, where the glasses look normal, lacks a camera, but still manages to pack smart features like the ability to answer a call by tapping on the frame of the glasses.

There will also be built-in speakers and a microphone, and it can also charge wirelessly, such as putting it on top of Huawei’s phones. It is unclear as to what other features there might be, but the company will be sharing more information this coming July where the smart glasses will be launched in full, so check back with us then for more updates.
